Googleが日本語入力の世界に進出してくるとは思わなかったですが、出しました。その名前も「Google日本語入力」ってそのままやん。（笑）
今まさにそれを試してみるついでにこれを書いているところなのですがMS-IMEに比べるとよいけど、ATOKに比べるとどうかなってところですね。（ただ、ATOKは辞書機能が非常に便利なので、その点では手放し難いわけですが。）

ちなみに有名な例文系は結構誤変換起こしていますね。

人名系は、とりあえず、「高嶺愛花」はだめでした。学習機能はあるので、一度変換してやるとうまく変換出来るようにはなるのですが。

ニュース報道とソーシャルメディア
この週末、ここから一時間程度離れた、Parklandという町のコーヒーショップで警官四人が殺害されるという事件がありました。
事件自体、非常に痛ましい事件であったわけですが、それと同時におそらく今までにもあまり類を見ないほどソーシャルメディアが使用された事件であったかもしれません。
警官が殺害され、犯人は逃走。地域メディアはまもなく、そのニュースをTwitterにも流し始めました。特に該当する地域にいる人たちに外出を控え、戸締まりをしっかりするようにする、というような警戒から、捜査の進展など、各メディアは一晩中流し続けたため、Twitterのタイムラインを追いかけることで、新聞やテレビなどの記事に匹敵する情報量がもたらされていました。（個人的にも地域メディアをリストで追いかけていました。）

特に、Seattle Timesの取り上げ方は秀逸であり、Retweetを大いに利用し、現場記者からTwitterで流される情報が刻々とretweetされてきており、関係するものをSeattle Timesが拾い上げる、という形で行われていました。

尚、Seattle Timesはその他にもGoogle Waveでも事件の情報の共有を開始し、４００人以上の人が事件に関して意見を述べていました。（Seattle Timesももちろんこれが実用として使っているわけではなく、あくまでも試験的に行ったとのことですが、予想通り、その負荷からほとんど作動しなくなるということになってしまいました。）

最終的にこの事件の犯人は発見現場で射殺され、共謀したその家族や友人などが逮捕されるある意味予想されていながらも最悪な結果となりましたがニュース媒体としてのソーシャルメディアの利用など、可能性が大きく見られた事件となりました。

尚、犯人はアーカンソー州で重罪を起こしたものの、刑期満了の６年前に釈放されており、また、ワシントン州でも犯罪を犯した上、大金で支払えないと考えられ設定された保釈金（１９万ドル）を家を抵当に支払い、釈放されたという経緯があり、本来なら釈放されるべきではないものが釈放された結果として起こったという原因も強いものであり、防ぐことができたのではないかと思われる事件でした。
